NOT THINKING

A human being strives for a state of happiness, intern peace and perfection. And everyone has his own vision and definition of these terms. But I think that there is a kind of magic string that bind us all together and what I can call the string of “shared happiness”.

These ideas have emerged from my visit -yesterday- to Yamanashi city in Japan. It was an amazing and unforgettable visit! I will talk later on about this magic visit that allowed me to know more how Greater is the Creator (God/Allah) and to warm up my soul with the hidden and appealing beauty of this city and the kindness of its inhabitants.

But in this article, I will share with you a part of my visit that makes me “think” more. In fact, when I was in Yamanashi we have visited a Buddhist temple and I have talked with the Buddhist priest.

I have asked him “which is the ultimate aim of this philosophy and religion?” He answered me “to bring happiness to human being”. Than, I asked him “what makes you the happiest according to this sect of Buddhism?”. He took some time and told me “NOT THINKING” because when “not thinking” you get rid of all your sufferings and grieves.

I said to him “what are you thinking of when not thinking? and how could you not to think?”. A silence veiled his words and he does not gave me any answer.

Actually, I think that “not thinking” could never bring happiness to human being because if I suppose that you are “not thinking” than your memory stops working too because our memory saves our thoughts. And if you really reach happiness when “not thinking” you will never remember it because your memory was “set off”. Consequently, you will never be happy when “not thinking”.

Actually, a riddle was not the end of our discussion because the priest asked me “what make you people the happiest?” I answered him simply “when feeling the existence of the unique (wahid) and inherently one (ahad), all-merciful and omnipotent Creator (God/Allah) who created me and all the Universe and knowing that he loves me and all the human being, he is watching me in every moment and every second even if I can't see him and he fulfills my prayers, then I try to get closer to him and to follow with my deepest love and absolute freedom his orders, hence I am the happiest person on the Universe.

Maybe my answer was not so perfect but it was and still real because I feel that my happiness is everlasting and eternal, I can feel it with every breath and heartbeat. It is not a state of mind but a stable state of consciousness of God's Existence that makes me try my best in my life to obtain his consent. Furthermore, my love to our prophet “Mohammed” and all his fellows -peace be upon them- makes me happier. And the more I discover (when reading or watching a TV show) the beauty of his acts and words the more I love him and the more I try to be a good Muslim like he was. I hope that all the people that they don't know him, try even once in their lives to know him by reading his deeds, way of living and traditions (Sira and Sunnah).

And finally, I just want to remind you to fulfill your day with faith, love, beauty and justice because maybe there is no tomorrow.

I think that "thinking" is the first step to be happy. When we think, we can make a choice between bad and good things; and you know that bad things make the human being sad, so we have to choose good things to be happy.
But the question here is: how can we make this choice?
Nobody is perfect, our choices are plainty of drowbacks, but humain being could make one only choice with "0" drowbacks which is following the instructions of The Perfect (God/Allah).
The result: you will be the happiest :)

hi, i m yokko who lives in the same domitory as u.
we havent seen each other so long

by the way, i wanna say something aboutt the comment of the priest
"not thinking"

i think this english translation is not so correct coz this phrase cant tell u real meaning, i think.

here, in buddhism, "not thinking" doesnt mean " really thinking nothing", but it means" getting rid of being material", i guess.

when people leave from thinking money, house, or some materialistic things, they just would be able to feel gods( i believe god is not only one)

this phenomena is "not thinking", i suppose

so i can sympathize what the priest says

i know way of thinking is very differnt from one religion to other one.

but this thinking is also nice, isnt it?

Yes, Yokko!
If what you really mean by "not thinking" is "not thinking of the material word" or "not being material", I think it is wonderful and reasonable. But in my conversation with the priest, "not thinking", as he explained to me, means "thinking about NOTHING". I really appreciate your explanation and your idea. :)
Thanks a lot!
